Skylight Repair in Toronto

Leaking or cracked skylight? Fixed at the source.

Most skylight leaks are roof leaks: failed flashing, a gap in the membrane or ice building up above the unit. As roofers, we fix the roof around the skylight as well as the skylight itself.

What we repair

Skylight problems we fix

Leaking skylights

Water traced to its source, whether that is the flashing, the membrane, the shingles above the unit or the seal, then repaired properly.

Cracked or broken glass

Storm, hail and branch damage made watertight the same day, then the glass or unit replaced.

Flashing & curb repair

Rusted, lifted or caulked-over flashing replaced with a proper flashing kit and new membrane.

Condensation & fogging

Fogged sealed units and dripping shafts diagnosed: a failed seal, poor insulation around the shaft, or ventilation.

Warning signs

Signs your skylight needs repair

  • Water stains or bubbling paint around the skylight shaft
  • Drips after heavy rain or during a thaw
  • Cracked, chipped or crazed glass or dome
  • Fog or moisture between the panes
  • Caulking or tar smeared around the outside of the unit
  • Ice building up above the skylight in winter

Repair or replace?

When a skylight should be replaced instead

If the sealed glass has failed, the frame is rotting, or the skylight is as old as the roof, a skylight replacement is usually better value than repairing it again. If a storm caused the damage, see roof repair for storm and wind damage for how we work with your insurer.

We repair skylights across Toronto and the GTA, including North York, Etobicoke, Scarborough, Mississauga, Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham and Oakville.

Questions

Skylight repair, answered

Can you come the same day?

For a cracked or actively leaking skylight, yes. Our emergency crew makes it watertight, typically the same day, and the permanent repair is scheduled after.

Is my skylight leak or condensation?

Condensation shows up in cold weather on the glass and shaft, often without rain. A leak follows rain or a thaw. We check both during the inspection.

Will insurance cover a skylight cracked in a storm?

Sudden storm damage is often covered. We provide dated photographs and a written report for your claim.
