After a storm

What to do after a storm

  1. Stay off the roof. Wet, damaged roofs are dangerous. Look from the ground and from inside the attic.
  2. Photograph what you can. Shingles in the yard, ceiling stains, broken skylights.
  3. Call us. Our 24/7 emergency crew tarps and dries in the roof to stop further damage.
  4. Call your insurer. We give you dated photographs and a written report for the claim.

Insurance

Storm damage and your home insurance

Wind and hail damage is often covered by Ontario home insurance policies, but insurers expect you to prevent further damage quickly and to document what happened. Our emergency tarping covers the first part; our photo report covers the second. Read our guide to storm damage and Ontario home insurance before you call your insurer.

Not sure whether the storm did any damage? Book a roof inspection. It comes at no cost, and it is worth doing after any storm with high winds or hail.

Questions

Storm damage repair, answered

How quickly can you respond after a storm?

Our emergency line is answered 24/7. Active leaks and open roofs are tarped first, typically the same day; full repairs are scheduled once the roof is dry and safe.

Will you deal with my insurance company?

We provide the photographs, written report and itemised price your insurer asks for, and we are happy to meet the adjuster at the house.

A few shingles blew off. Can it wait?

Not for long. Missing shingles expose the underlayment to sun and rain, and wind lifts the neighbouring courses more easily next time. Have it repaired within days, not months.
