Cost & value
What does a premium roof cost in Toronto?
It depends on the material, the shape of the roof and how hard it is to get at, far more than on square footage. Roughly: a full slate or copper roof on a large Toronto house is a six-figure job; cedar and standing-seam steel usually run half to two-thirds of that; flat roofs and repairs are a good deal less. Every proposal we write is a fixed price after a site visit and a drone survey.
Why choose slate or copper over premium asphalt?
Lifespan and total cost. A premium asphalt roof lasts 20–25 years in Toronto's climate; slate and copper last 100+. Over a fifty-year horizon, the "expensive" roof is installed once and the "cheap" roof two or three times, each with its own disruption, disposal and rising labour cost. Slate and copper also add measurable resale value to heritage and estate homes.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, through a Canadian lending partner, with terms up to 15 years and no penalty for early repayment. Details are provided with your proposal.
Is a deposit required?
A deposit secures your schedule slot and material order (slate and copper are ordered to your roof). Progress payments follow milestones set out in the contract; the final payment is due only after your walk-through.
Timelines & process
How far in advance should I book?
Installation season runs April to November. For a summer or autumn start, begin conversations in late winter. Slate, tile and copper have material lead times of 6–12 weeks. Repairs and emergencies are handled year-round.
Can you roof in winter?
Metal and slate can be installed in cold weather with precautions; self-adhered membranes and asphalt products cannot. We schedule accordingly and never compromise adhesion or safety for a date.
Do I need to be home?
Only for the initial consultation and final walk-through. Many clients travel during installation. Your project director sends photo updates each Friday.
Do you handle permits and heritage approvals?
Yes. We prepare and submit City of Toronto building permits where structural work is involved and Heritage Toronto applications for designated properties, including the drawings and material documentation they require.
Warranty & insurance
What does your warranty cover?
Our workmanship warranty covers leaks and defects arising from installation for 50 years on slate, tile and copper, 25 years on cedar and coated steel, and 20 years on flat roofing. Manufacturer warranties cover the materials themselves and are registered in your name. Both transfer to a new owner if you sell.
Are you insured and WSIB registered?
Yes. $5M commercial general liability, WSIB clearance certificates issued for every project, and Working at Heights certification for every crew member. Certificates are included in your proposal package.
Will a new roof lower my home insurance?
Often. Many Ontario insurers offer premium reductions for Class A fire-rated and impact-resistant roofing, and for roofs under 10 years old. We provide the documentation your broker needs.

A consultation with a project director is complimentary and without obligation. We'll walk the property, survey the roof by drone and tell you honestly what it needs.
